We remind that the lawyer has been previously persecuted for his anti-war stance: in April it became known that the Faculty of International Relations of Belarusian State University, where Aleksandr had been teaching for 20 years, did not extend the contract with him. Also, the Board of the Minsk City Bar Association subjected Aliaksandr to disciplinary action, reprimanding him for signing an anti-war petition. The "Right to Defense" project has made a statement (link to the text in the Russian language) as to the unacceptability of persecution of the lawyers who signed the anti-war petition. You can find more information as to why it is illegal to subject lawyers to disciplinary actions based on the expression of their opinion in this article (written in Russian).
