Attorney Maxim Znak Included in the KGB Terrorists List

The KGB has updated the list of organizations and individuals involved in terrorist activities (you can find the list in Russian there). It includes 15 new names, all of whom have already been sentenced to prison terms, for example, opposition figure Maria Kolesnikova and lawyer Maxim Znak.

Until 2020, only foreigners were on the official list of terrorists, and in November the KGB included Belarusian citizens for the first time.

Maxim Znak is one of the lawyers persecuted for political reasons in 2020. He acted as an attorney for the electoral headquarters of Viktor Babariko. On September 9, Maxim was detained*. Human rights activists recognized him as a political prisoner, and Amnesty International considers him to be a prisoner of conscience. International organizations have repeatedly sent statements of support for Maxim (the list of the statements, as well as links to them, can be found here in Russian).
